Get to Know Us

The Zambia Deaf Society (ZDS) is a non-profit organization that relies on the support of individuals and organizations to continue our mission of promoting and protecting the rights of deaf people and improving their access to education, employment, and other services.

oUR Secretariat

It is an organ within the organizational hierarchy that is responsible for policy implementation and program activities execution on behalf of the governance board and grassroots. It is headed by the Director-General a full-time designation. The Director-General is supported by Assistant Director, Program and Project Manager, and Gender Manager.

Professional credentials of ZDS staff

Director-General is Deaf with more than 20 years working experience in the field of deafness, holds a diploma in Management, JICA International Certificate in Disability Sector, a Degree in Special Education, while support staff one holds a master’s degree (Child of Deaf Parents) and two each holding a degree in Special Education; The remaining staffs hold diplomas and certificates in relevant fields such as interpretation profession.

ZDS has more than 10 volunteers. Among these, there are two volunteer doctorate holders.

OUR Governance Board

 

It is the supreme organ in the organizational hierarchy that formulates and oversees policy implantation and provides policy guidance. It is headed by the President and is gender-balanced composed of 10 members the president inclusive.
